cartron : Well..to throw in my 3 cents! We got Verizon FiOS installed in our home a few years ago (internet and TV) and not long after we had it, we started getting that annoying beep. People on the other end would hear it as if it was a key press by us! (sort of like they were hearing a call waiting tone instead of us!)We dumped our regular Verizon phone service and got Lingo Voip and it still continued. We even had their tech guys (Verizon) come out to the house but they couldn't figure it out! So through trial and error we found the problem on our own...we had AT&T 2.4ghz phones in the house (1 base and 3 cordless) so we decided to change to 5.8ghz phones instead just to see if that helped (tried a few different makes & models) and lo and behold...the beep is gone!! This may or may not be the solution for you but it worked for us! Also, we recently changed out our 5.8ghz phones to DECT 6.0 and still no beep! Hope this helps :)

kewlkeed : Yeppers this is a problem with the ATA unit (Phone adapter). Some seem to be more susceptible than others to the problem but it's always there.

Women and youg kids have the right tone sometimes to set it off (Some people more than others)

The ATA confuses the "tone" that it hears and thinks it's you pressing a DTMF key, so it replicates that signal down the line (As sometimes DTMF tones don't pass through digital compression properly, so this is the compensation for that)

Try a different ATA from a different vendor and you may find it behaves better.

RockyBB : I've had Vonage for 5 years and have no idea what you're talking about. Is the beep only once during a call, is it every 15 seconds or some other regular interval, do both sides of the call hear it, when someone else other than you call your Vonage phone do they hear the beep, is it audible on Vonage to Vonage calls or only on calls coming from outside Vonage? If you plug a different phone into the Vonage adapter do you still hear the beep?

anon : For almost 3 years now I've endured an annoying DTMF beep when I call home to my Vonage phone. I can only imagine others calling in hear the same beep.

I would have figured this problem would have been fixed by now. Is there no hope for this technology glitch?
