 | Worse than Microsoft This is borderline ridiculous.
What about the person who wants to (I'll use this game as an example, as I know it'll be really popular) play Spore, but only has a dial-up connection? If they're not a frequent net user, they could accidentally forget to connect to the 'net, and suddenly not be able to play their game (even worse, maybe you can't afford dial-up, or you live out in the boonies with no 'net connection and you can't play at all).
I can understand the initial installation of the game (though if I were a company, I'd also provide over-the-phone activation too, as Microsoft does), then leave it at that....if I wanted to go further with the dialing home every 9-10 days, I'd simply say "if you don't want to dial home every 9-10 days, then you can't use Spore's online features, but offline will be 100% functional".
I hope this fails miserably. -- "True Patriotism is more closely linked with dissent than it is to conformity and a blind desire for safety and security...I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist abusive state power." -Ron Paul |
