| QWest SMTP's-Supported or not?
Trying to get the straight scoop. I use Outlook 2000. I have QWEST DSL. Have heard that QWEST does not support SMTP's servers is that true? If so are there any free SMTP relay service you guys would recommend. I have found a service that is fee based www.authsmtp.com/, that seems to provide for the relay needs of those customers whose ISP does not recognize or support SMTP servers. I Would appreciate someone working with me on this. I may just be entering the wrong information into my mail section of Outlook 2000. |

| I think we are both on the same thought wave. What I hear you saying is; I can use outlook 2000 through my QWEST ISP, only that I can't send outbound messages because they don't support SMTP relay? That means I would need to find an SMTP relay service through which I could send my outbound emails correct? |

I assume you have Qwest.Net service?
The issue that's probably biting you is Qwest's "POP before SMTP". In other words, you must check for e-mail before sending e-mail. They do this because POP requires authentication but SMTP does not. Once you've logged in via POP, your address is whitelisted for sending for a short period of time.
You set your inbound and outbound servers to pop.phnx.qwest.net . Your inbound ID is yourusername@qwest.net -- note that the @qwest.net is required.
Uncheck the options to log in using SPA, and the outbound server "my server requires authentication".
You should also disable the option to send mail immediately.
Make sure you can receive mail first. Once you've done that, try sending something. |

said by demoniacs :FYI: httpDAV is going to be extinct soon. "httpDAV" is a hash. There is, "HTTPMail", and there is "WebDAV". MSN Hotmail used WebDAV to implement HTTPMail. This is supported in MS Outlook Express, and some flavors of MS Outlook.
Windows Live Hotmail still maintains WebDAV (and has extended support indefinitely*), but also provides support for DeltaSync, another method to implement HTTPMail.
Windows Live Mail, and the Outlook Connector plug-in (for MS Outlook 2003 and MS Outlook 2007) support DeltaSync.
Nearly as I can tell, HTTPMail using DeltaSync is intended to replace HTTPMail using WebDAV.
