 trouble-some finding after readining here

After reading this topic:
»Re: Bell is avoiding me
and learning of whats happening, I have to give my opinion.

I hope the site owner or mods have comments about this practice that was revealed, which I never thought would happen to regular users (people who may pay) on DSLreports.

What I find amazing in that thread is that fact that Bell is using the DSLreports forums and the Sympatico Direct forum to go after regular users who post here.

This is what I find trouble-some & amazing.

In other words, once you post in the direct forum you lose any and all anoniminty and Bell is using this to go after its own customers who post in the forums.

I hate to say it, but i will since its obvious,

-People should only make a DSLreports account if they intend to never use the Direct forum feature and wish anoniminity.

From the given evidence, its clear Bell is tracking user comments and linking them to their real life info via Dslreports.

-People who post in the Direct forum, and who don't want their regular forum comments tracked by Bell should not log into their DSLreports user account. In other words they should make regular forum posts as Anon if they want anoniminity from Bell, or wish to make a review or post on their current contract offerings with out reprisals.

I have seen many people complain that Anon posts should be removed from forums. But this evidence CLEARLY shows why Anon can not be removed and should now be encouraged for all users.

It also clearly shows why people should post anon in the sympatico forum. Bell is tracking users and calling them at home because of what they say on Dslreports.

Tinfoil hat? I think not, its there for all to see.

Shouldn't this be added to the privacy policy on the Direct forum of DSLreports to make people aware? Something along the lines of:
"Posting here will allow Bell to track what you say in all the forums and can be used for contract termination if in Bells sole discretion they don't like what you say".

The person who lost their contract, Was he/she aware of the consequences related to posting in the direct forum? Did they think Bell would go after them for making a post in this forum?

I'm curious what the mods and the site owner think of this avenue Bell has taken to track its users and terminate their contracts based on what they say on DSLreports.

This clearly goes to show that posting anon on DSLreports is the way to go, since Bell is tracking its users here.

People who have paid to be premium members and who used Bells direct forum can never say what special terms they have in a review or in this forum without the possibility of now having their contract terminated.

Is this what the owners of DSLreports envisioned?

It not only surprised me to read that, but it also saddened me to see the extreme level that Bell has taken to go after its users on DSLreports who wish to speak or make a review, and the level at which Bell is using DSLreports to track what users say via its direct forum.

Anyhow, I said what I had to say.

This Bell user will remain Anon from now on.

WOW , I'm glad someone else noticed. They have been doggin' me for ages, coming up with all kinds of trumped up charges, wrongfully harassing my family etc.

I don't know the whole story there, however no information was used against someone who posted in the Direct Forum.

What's in the post, if you read it completely, was what was posted in the public Sympatico forum, not the private Direct Forum.

No one "went after" anyone, so I don't know how you interpreted it that way.

lies

@teksavvy.com

he posted in the direct forum, got a deal of some sort, then asked about it in the regular forum.

Then he got a call at home and got the contract terminated becuase he posted in the forum the "deal" he got from the direct forum.

I read it. I suggest you re-read it!

Here it is for you deapool:

"I posted a message on the SympaticoDirect forum regarding this complete incompetence on Sympatico's part, and eventually was offered a "deal"/contract. Being skeptical at just how good a "deal" this was, I posted the specifics to the Sympatico forum, soliciting opinions from others. The following day, I received a phone call from Sympatico basically saying that they were no longer going to honour the contract I had agreed to over the phone, as I had posted the specifics in a public forum."

wow if that is true that pretty scary... see the thing is from bell's standpoint it makes it better, because they are offering a service to a select few, for a service that supposedly doesnt exist anymore. But it also makes bell look worse if this is true, because not only are they offering it to a select few, but taking it away if they mistakenly (or not) open their mouths. I do really hope thats not true, because its really a slippery slope.

We were told in training that Bell monitors this site quite heavily and we are not allowed to tell customers about it or acknowledge DSL reports exists with customers.

I did read it - no one "went after" this person. That was my point.

And not to accuse anyone of lying, but I can't even find any threads by KeithO in the Direct Forum (I went all the way back to January).

Please, Dont try and make the situation worse then it is.

When I worked for bell they were fully aware of the fact that I frequented this site and attempted to assist customers with issues. I actually received praise for it.

Why would bell say, oh dont say you know what this site is, especially considering they have a direct forum for sympatico support?

Seems idiotic to me

It is unfortunate if the deal you were offered was taken back. I would only guess that the person who offered it, saw your post in here and thought it might be construed as an "anti competitive" offer. Bell is always under close scrutiny by the CRTC for any type of "anti competitive" behaviour. The competitors might have taken the deal and made a case out of it against Bell with the CRTC. The deal was probably offered because another person messed up. That is my guess based on what I hear from your postings. My apologies for your situation...from one member to another.

34.95 unlimited, 1 year contract is standard.

This is the deal he recalled having according to the post in his review.

Thousands have this deal and still get it to this day, as stated in this forum.

Nothing out of the orinary.

I for one have become paranoid as well. If Bell were to find out that i still have unlimited, i'm doomed. I have tin foil surrounding my modem but not touching it. So i'm sure i'm ok untill at least next month.
I can't and won't say my real name here, because i really do feel someone will look me up and make changes.

OMG! i see a Bell truck down the road! logging off! loggi...

pfft.I've had ultra since ..I forget when it came out but I still got it then.Still unlimited. If it changes I move on.I havent renewed a contract since the day I got it.Sure its alot more money now but I'm a hold out hoping bell will repay me for screwing me over when they had hispeed the same as ultra and we got nothing.

Moot point but I aint worried about it.Lots of other places to get unlimited.

the point

@videotron.ca
I don't think the "unlimited" was the point of the "trouble-some finding".

It is important to remember that as members unless you reveal information about yourself in the forums, it will not be given to anyone except under the terms of the site privacy policy. It would not be revealed, for example, to Bell. Even as a moderator, I know no more about nothing more about who you are and where you're posting from than any other member.

So, posting in the general forums does NOT reveal information to Bell or any other organisation.

Membership is actually beneficial to you should you choose to register with the site, including the Instant Message facility.

Its too bad though, as "saddend" & the one who got the phone-call found out, that posting in the "sympatico direct" forum has consequences.

Being able to ID you by forum nick, track what you say, and punish for what you say in the general forums is some of them, as revealed.

Anyhow, Sbrook said it very well as it pertains to the general forum. Thumbs up to you, well worded.

The reason I was told is, there are no positive comments on this forum about Sympatico. Why, as a company, would Bell want to point customers to a forum about how much our service sucks, same reason I probably can't discuss the pros and cons of net neutrality on calls.

I'm on the verge of not caring if I get fired or not, but I still refrain from telling customers what's really going on.

Put it this way....I work for tech support, but I'm not a customer and never will be.

Funny ! How can people be afraid that Bell would cancel their contract ? How can people be afraid that they would lose the "unlimited" benefit ? Real Funny.

I HAD a contrat with Bell, they still insert MISC CHARGES in my bill to increase the amount charged. If the customers are too busy to call them, they will never rectify those "errors". I did not hesitate a second to BYE Bell and HELLO another provider, because "unlimited" features are offered by a lot of ISP these days.
And some providers let us pay one amount for the whole year. That saves me from taking the time to talk to Bell, from frustration because of those "billing errors". JUST use your confidence vote ! Decide ! We are not living under an authoritarian regime, like communism...?
