more info on outage in S California?

I was wondering if there is any new info on the S Cal outage noted here:

»www2.dslextreme.com/Status/

"Event Date: Thursday, May 08, 2008
posted by Support Team on 5/8/2008 5:31:55 AM
Some DSL subscribers in the AT&T service area of Southern California may experience issues connecting to the Internet. ATT is currently fixing an open cable pair issue. ETR 1 hour.
PENDING "

It's funny, I have 3 DSLExtreme lines coming into the building, and it's only affected one of them.

Any new info or estimated time to fix?

Well, I see someone removed the "ETR 1 hour" part of the status report, so maybe someone who knows more has read this.

Still nothing?

Hi bbdd,

There is an issue on the AT&T side on one of the ATM circuits that connects from their network to ours. The circuit is currently being redesigned and repaired on their end. The ETR from AT&T is currently 8:00PM. We are calling them every half an hour for updates and pushing them to get it repaired.

It is likely that the other two DSL connections ride different ATM connections which is why they are not being affected.

Thanks

Thanks for the detailed update. I hope all goes well getting it back up.

As a side note, we have had at at least one, and usually several, DSLExtreme lines. This is the longest outage any of our DSLExtreme lines has ever had, so we are satisfied customers. Any ISP is susceptible to unplanned downtime, so make sure you have backup lines (we do) with multiple ISPs (we also do).

The only thing that I wish is that we could get faster connections. I would order 3 right now.

Yes, I see the earlier time estimate of 8PM has been removed from the status page. I hope it's up by morning... :-(

Latest update from AT&T said it would be resolved within the next 20 minutes. I will continue to provide updates. I hope it will be resolved shortly though. Thanks for your patience.

Still down here, as well. As an IT professional myself, I understand outages happen. But, as we go over 24 hours, I have to wonder what the hold-up is.

The thing that's pissing me off is my neighbors a few houses down have AT&T DSL that's working!

Update: The status says resolved. I'm at work, so I'll check later.

bbdd

@dslextreme.com

I think you are looking at a new entry at the top of the status screen that is resolved. The issue we are having is still pending, just underneath.

Even more frustrating, I have 2 other DSLExtreme lines into the same building where my outage is that are working fine. As explained above, they are obviously running on other equipment that has not failed.

Looks like we're back up!

IT should be. Reboot if things aren't working and send me a PM if you are still down and I will check the account.

bbdd, If you need to send Zak an IM/PM, you will need to join the site. It's free, easy, and spam free.

After that, all you will need to do is click on Zak's name. It will take you to his profile. At the top will be a yellow box for your IM/PM. Just type in there and click send.

One out of three of my DSL lines was also down a lot on Thursday. I was wondering why but I am guessing it was caused by this outage.
