Re: Network question - new DSL modem

Well I'm about to fall over dead (work 3rd shift), so if I suggest something that is really stupid, just smack me around a bit.

Since I've never owned a Linksys router I really have no clue but doesn't the DSL modem have a option to use either a private ip or a public ip? Perhaps it's set on public which might be a problem for the router? Or vice versa?

Get some sleep. OP put the modem into bridged mode; it shouldn't be assigning IP address in bridged mode because IP addresses are layer 3 stuff, and bridged mode is layer 2.

I meant that towards the comment of him not caring if the modem did the PPPOE work thinking perhaps he tried that method already. Now that I've re-read it, I see my comment is still wrong. Next time I'll try to stop myself from posting when I'm that tired. :P
