Get some sleep. OP put the modem into bridged mode; it shouldn't be assigning IP address in bridged mode because IP addresses are layer 3 stuff, and bridged mode is layer 2.
I meant that towards the comment of him not caring if the modem did the PPPOE work thinking perhaps he tried that method already. Now that I've re-read it, I see my comment is still wrong. Have a setup with a linksys wired router/speedstream 5360 dsl modem, with the router doing the PPOE connection -- dsl modem went bad, replaced it with the new
motorola 2210 or whatever the standard is.

Went into modem settings, changed it to bridged mode to continue to let the router do the PPOE -- but I couldn't even connect to the router after I did this ??

I'm ok with doing the PPOE on the dsl modem is fine too, but I can't change the router settings to allow me to do that either, as I can't get to the router setup screen now ?

Clearly I am missing something basic ??
