Nvidia drivers work for me on AMD64 using Gentoo's 2.6.24-gentoo-r7 kernel. Driver version 169.09-r1.
They work for me in Debian, if I run a 64-bit userland too. However, I really need to run a 32-bit userland because of what I use the machine for--it's a testing lab for our production machines so I have to have the same environment.
