I have had Verizon FIOS Internet for 2 months now and while all tests show I get 20up and 5 down which is what I pay for when I access websites it is slower to retrieve compared to Cable modem. I did the FIOS Optimizer any other tweaks that I can do? I also did the TCP/Optimizer with MTU. My computer is new I use XP. even my wireless computers appear to be faster then the wired main computer. |

| You have done the optimizer and you are getting your 20/5. There is a lot more info needed than just "IT seems slower" You say that your wireless pcs are faster. Than i would say you have an issue with your pc. Besides having XP on it. What are the specs? what sites are you having issues with. Have you done any tracerts? what browser are you using? IE, Firefox? AND not that it matters but who was your cable provider? -- I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as i ever was. |

@verizon.net | reply to BlazinNOTT XP SP3 P4 3.20 GHZ 3GB RAM, I used to have Optimum online. I haven't done tracerts can you recommend how to do it. When I access various websites it seems like its sluggish compared to when I had Opt online. |

| If you are using explorer, do the following:
Click on TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS
1) Click Connections Tab > LAN Setting Make sure that all fields are empty and that the check boxes are ALL unchecked.
2) Click the ADVANCED tab Turn off "Automatic website checking" under the "phishing filter" option of the security section. |

@verizon.net | reply to BlazinNOTT I am in the process of building a Quad Core computer I wonder if this will speed things up. Does this trace mean its fast enough for FIBER? |

PoloDude Premium,VIP join:2006-03-29 East Northport, NY | Your tracert looks fine. I would look towards something on your pc slowing the webpage load. seeing as you say that your other pcs are fine i would definatly say you are having an issue with that pc. |

@verizon.net | reply to BlazinNOTT where do I go and change DNS? Thanks |

@verizon.net | reply to BlazinNOTT A software firewall may slow your page loads down, changing the dns probably won't make a difference. Looks like you have the actiontec, in your browser type 192.168.1.1 |
