Embarq doesn't use PPPoE, so swap it over to DHCP (Dynamic). It shouldn't ask for a username/password if it's in DHCP mode. Once you change this setting, I'd turn off the modem and router, then power on the router first and let it boot up. After it's done booting, power on the modem.
