slow speeds

Windstream DSL speed

I have been a Windstream DSL customer for a few years now. The last six months has been terrible. Paying for 6M service and for the last month, I have only been getting about 300-500 kpbs speed. I have talk to the folks in India so many times that I have their scripts memorized by now! Then a couple of days ago I get a letter in the mail telling me that 12M service is now available in the area, only I can't even get 1M at the moment. That was pouring salt in the wound for sure!

No one seems to know when the latency problem will be fixed. I can't believe it would take them weeks upon weeks to fix the problem.

I am sure several others are having the same problems, too.

Any one have a US based phone number I can call to get some help? Thanks in advance.

Call the sales line and politely explain to them that you need "english speaking" tech support and they should help you out. Also, post your SNR/Atten. stats. You can locate those stats by typing 192.168.254.254 in your address bar. Username/Password is admin/admin. On the left hand side of the page, click on status and statistics. Click on DSL. Post those stats on your reply. Thanks =)

If customer service fails to get you to an American rep, call the Windstream Action Line number. 1-800-222-6825. This is a great way to have an American call you back to get things resolved. Good Luck.

I finally got ahold of someone in the US and they told me what is going on. I was told a month ago that basically what has happened is that my area has grown faster than what they could keep up with. They went from having 1000 people on a T1 line with all receiving high speeds to a situation where they can only get 24-30 people on a T1 line and get high speed.

They have been waiting on new equipment to be build and delivered. I was told today that the crew is expected to install this equipment by June 9th. Once this is done, I should be able to get 12M service if I want it. Just $5.00 bucks more a month for twice the speed. Seems like a sure bet, but I am leary of giving them more of my money because of the horrible customer service they provide.

The number by the way is 1-866-248-2533 option 3.

Crossing my fingers.....

Thanks for the info.

That must be a new number to use. It is one that I was not familiar with while working there. I'm sure it's a number they don't want to get out, but it is too late now. Good luck with everything.
