| reply to gwwalks Don't worry about "free download"- BUY IT, it will change your life regarding computers. I image all partitions on 10 hard drives and 7 computers, even 2 Mac Leopard partitions. You will no longer have to be concerned about worms, viruses, software updates, HD failures, new hardware/software , re-installs-activations &etc. All my computers work perfectly all the time, I would not think of ever using any MS tools like add/remove, system restore, last known good conf, Between Acronis TI 11, Disc Director (which includes OS selector) and extra HD space you save will time, aggravation and money. |

| Unless you have Vista, the free version 8 should work perfectly for most users. I only purchased version 10 because I run Vista. I've been using TI since version 6 and it's saved me countless times and hasn't failed me, even once... A "must have" for every PC user, IMHO. -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |

| reply to ULTRACOOLDAVE Like Howie says v8 wont work on Vista plus why would one buy it when they can get it for free right now. I made the mistake and bought the upgrade of v9 sometime ago and if it wasn't for v7 being free i would never had been able to use my v9 so like i said why pay when you can get it for free today. -- Advertising is legalized lying. - H.G. | reply to howie You need it for Vista with all the possible problems you could have with it/updates/compatibility, I have re-written probabily 100 partitions in the last 2 years with no problems. Most people do not realize that when you use add/remove you do not actually remove all of the program-you leave behind unwanted file associations, fragments and registry changes that can cause problems. Its much better when you install a new update, program that you watch how it works for a few days and if things start acting funny you re-write your partition to get rid of it completely, also you don't have to spend hours in forums trying to predict how a particular update will work for you-just try it! |

(other than DiscWizard/MaxBlast requires the system to have a Seagate or Maxtor HDD) Significant difference is that this free ATI v8 is the full version while i think the Seagate DiscWizard/Maxtor Maxblast isn't a full version of Acronis True Image i could be wrong about the Seagate one though. -- Advertising is legalized lying. - H.G. | reply to MarkAW Its absolutely critical you image with the new install problems occurring with XPSP3 and Vista updates. I love XPSP3-have it on 4 computers but people are getting the dreaded blue screen, if they had an Acronis image before they installed it they could have simply booted from the boot disc and restored exactly the previous OS. |

And being v10, it is also Vista compatible. Thanks for the clarification. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

| reply to gwwalks With V10 and V11 its compatible with any file system- I image my Leopard partitions with it, you can only image a whole Mac partition not individual files like with windows. You should buy the full version but failing that you MUST get the free one if you are even thinking of doing an XPSP3 install-make an image FIRST!!!! There are vast numbers of people having major problems with it today. Image and burn the boot Cd, if it does not work you are only a couple of clicks away from exactly restoring your old OS. |
