| reply to gwwalks Re: Acronis TI 8 Personal - Free Giveaway
I filled in my request using my regular email account a few hours ago, but still no link has been sent and I've checked my spam folder just in case as well.
I was wanting TI 8 for my notebook. I hope the link comes through soon. I want to do a back-up before I install XP SP3 on the notebook. -- An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. - Sir Winston Churchill |

| Although I have installed SP3 on 4 computers with no problems I did it from RC2 full retail, not the download, you should 1 make an external image of your partition inc. the boot file, burn the Acronis boot CD. 2 save the SP3 download and burn it to a CD, then install |

| reply to Irish Shark Well, I have Vista (no problems with that OS). Lilhurricane tried to help me, but since v8 isn't compatible with Vista, I'm not going to worry about it. I've never made a backup of anything - ever - since I first started using a pc in 2000 (ME being the 1st OS, and Vista on a new pc in 2007). Not much on this pc anyway - no pictures, music or Office software (Wordpad is my friend ). -- Lonnie |

| reply to gwwalks I Got V8 a week or 2 ago while back thanks to Doctorolds instructions in a thread here. BTW, I learned that once you register you can go to the US site »www.acronis.com/ to download if you want.
I also have the free version 7 that was going around awhile back and so far it works very well in XP and W2000.
I also have the seagate / maxblast version 10 that I used to image vista on my dads new laptop.
Anyway does anyone know the differences in V7 (it was labeled a full version) and V8 (which is now labeled as personal edition)?
Also does anyone know if they offer downloads (via you registered account) of just the rescue boot disk of V7 or V8? I haven't installed V8 yet but if I had the boot disk, I could try V8 out without uninstalling V7. I looked around their site but couldn't find one alsthough it makes sense that they might offer this. |

Most people do not realize that when you use add/remove you do not actually remove all of the program-you leave behind unwanted file associations, fragments and registry changes that can cause problems. Its much better when you install a new update, program that you watch how it works for a few days and if things start acting funny you re-write your partition to get rid of it completely, also you don't have to spend hours in forums trying to predict how a particular update will work for you-just try it! Sounds vaguely familiar ! |

That could be my case also. Of course I don't remember the last password I used. I probably have it saved, but was too lazy to look for it. -- 11,047 DEADLY TERROR ATTACKS SINCE 9/11~~TEAM DISCOVERY Can't feel you anymore, don't need you anymore, don't believe you anymore, I don't need you anymore
