Not exactly new. I had a guy that worked for me in 1977 that started such an enterprise. He granted degrees based upon "life experience".

He did some heavy federal time. Last I saw of him was in 1985 on c-span, testifying before Claude Pepper's committee. In ankle irons, with two escorts.

These schemes get stamped out quickly, at least stateside. The phony degrees are especially common among educators such as high school principals. The one thing that really put the kibosh on these enterprises was the personnel departments that are on the lookout.

Hi K.,

Thanks for chiming in. How much do they normally charge for one of those fake documents?

Cheers.

Here's an interesting article that talks about that.

You'll find my guy, Anthony Geruntino, prominently mentioned along with prices. Google is your friend, his whole story is out there.

Thanks for that link. It was quite informative as well as entertaining. Best line: "It was Fletcher Knebel who first observed that smoking is the leading cause of statistics."

Cheers!
