VPN within the same LAN

I want to simulate vpn connection using Open VPN between two computers within the same LAN, it is not wireless. The type of connection I want to establish is tunneling.
How can I achieve that? Can other computers in the LAN ping to my Open VPN client and/or server when the VPN is active?
Thank you in Advance

well you can just remote manage a machine with a PC in the same lan then do the testing as if you're outside the network (to make sure that VPN tunneling works)
