| [XP Pro] Problems with MS SP3 Installion on a HP Pavilion
When I installed SP3 on 05/08/08 , my computer refused to boot except in safe mode. So I went along for the ride, opened up control panel and unstalled the SP3. Rebooted everthing now works find.So I checked the system info/windows error reports, here's what I found; Fault bucket686628912.8#x000d;8#x000a hanging application iexplore.exe 7.0.6000.1664... Can any on one tell me what is going on ? I would still like to install SP3 if possible. Thanks |

Edit: MCE are actually XP PRO... ---> Windows Media Center Edition is actually XP Pro with a few added features!
---> MCE is actually the enhanced version of XP pro, added with many features. »www.theeldergeek.com/forum/index···ic=20746

I've always understood MCE to be XP Home with a Media Center. Isn't it missing some of the features of XP Pro (a business OS)? -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |

Which version of MCE are you referring to, as your claim above as a general statement is not true for MCE 2005 for example.
One of the distinguishing differences between XP Home and XP Pro is whether the Simple File Sharing GUI is optional or Mandatory; and whether the box can be joined to a Domain.
By my lights, MCE 2005 is not based on XP Pro. -- ============ MS-MVP 2004 - -2008, ASAP Member Users Helping Users
