Not exactly new. I had a guy that worked for me in 1977 that started such an enterprise. He granted degrees based upon "life experience".
He did some heavy federal time. Last I saw of him was in 1985 on c-span, testifying before Claude Pepper's committee. In ankle irons, with two escorts.
These schemes get stamped out quickly, at least stateside. The phony degrees are especially common among educators such as high school principals. The one thing that really put the kibosh on these enterprises was the personnel departments that are on the lookout. |
