Re: Redlining

Verizon has quite obviously redlined the CO (Central Office) that serves a big chunk of Coney Island, including 11224 Area Code.

I recently discovered that my CO [NYCKNYAU, 2101 W12 BK,NY] was one of the first in this area to be 'wired' for FIOS, but are we going to see it? Not bloody likely.

Don't take my word for it? Ask some Verizon employees working in the area.

ALMOST EVERY CO AROUND HERE IS FIOS READY NOW. Some local COs have had it for nearly a year.

What about the residents of Coney Island? F*ck them, they're too poor to be on the net anyway...

Gee, THANKS Verizon.

Verizon is redlining in Far Rockaway Queens NY. Richer neighborhoods to the left and right have FIOS already and poorer places are being strategically avoided even though there are some newly built and sizable developments.
Oh, well, that's money they are losing, too bad...

I call BS. Far Rockaway may not have it but I was doing FIOS inspections in Queens earlier this year and I saw all kinds of neighborhoods getting FIOS.
Exactly. Nothing to see here except another (wannabe) rabble-rouser with nothing to do on a Friday afternoon. YAWN................

So says the uneducated. Try Harlem and the areas of the Bronx, SI and Brooklyn that are live now. Poor (by NYC standards) areas that are already live while the rich areas (UES, UWS, Riverdale etc) still sit without any FIOS.

Redlining only exists in your mind.
Correction, so says the ignorant. The whole redlining BS is nothing more than a catch phrase spewed by a portion of this site's visitors/members. That poster probably doesnt even know what it means, and simply heard people talking about it so he decided to repeat it. It has been shown time and time again that no redlining has gone on with regards to FIOS, as many of the lower income areas were/are the first served in their markets. This has gotten to the point that even some of the people who historically disagree about everything are coming down on people who keep perpetuating the redlining conspiracy.
