and couldn't help but to contemplate the enormity of the challenge that Verizon has ahead of them.

Imagine if you will the problems you'd encounter in just rewiring one small apartment house anywhere in this country.
Wall fishing is no easy task even for a project that size.

Now imagine NY City, and all the buildings there.
It's just such a vast array of building designs, heights and complexities that it's almost mind boggling to consider how they'll pull it off.

Still though, their completion date of 2014 seems realistic.
50% completion by 2010 seems to be a bit of a stretch though.

Good luck to them and their workers. It's an ambitious project and they've certainly shown themselves to be willing to take on the tough tasks. Their decisions are delivering a real next generation network to their customer base and they're sparing no expense in doing it.

I think you have to admire their CEO for standing up to their shareholders and making these tough decisions.
"We're gonna spend 25 Billion of your money"...isn't an easy thing to say to them.
"We're gonna raise your dividend instead and not spend it"..seems easier for other companies to say.

The day is coming however, where those decisions will make all the difference in the world I think.

And something tells me that one day, Verizons shareholders will be happy as he** they had a real leader at the helm.
