Re: [northeast] Should I set WAn to PPPoE or to DHCP

What does it take for Verizon to switch me to DHCP? It is my understanding that performance will be better with DHCP instead of PPPoE.

There is no noticeable performance difference between the two. Your speed tests should show you getting the speeds you signed up for. If you're not, that's another story and has nothing to do with being on PPPoE or on DHCP.

You may be confusing switching from MoCA to ethernet. If you're on PPPoE, not much you can do because you're restricted by the equipment in the CO.

I'm guessing you don't have TV.

Not the OP, but I have a PPoE setup with TV. Internet was installed July 2005, TV April 2007. There is no technical reason that you can't have TV with PPoE that I am aware of.

As you said, depends on the equipment at the CO which way to set-up the router.
