anon : I can certainly try to do that. However, I am not sure it will answer the question. The Sony receiver has a function that it resets and looks for parameters to set the decoding function (dolby, dts, etc.) when there is an interruption of signal or change in decoding status (e.g., from pcm to dolby or from dolby to dtx, etc.). Since the TV is not decoding anything, I am not sure if there is any "reset" function that would be noted. But I will certainly give it a try.

anon : I would presume it is the signal between the cable box and the receiver since I have experienced the loss when playing back DVR and when using live signal (real time). Furthermore, as I previously stated when I experienced the loss using DVR playback, I was able to playback the same portion of the program material without a signal loss only moments later. Therefore, I had not recorded loss of cable signal on the hard drive.

[RI] Intermittent brief signal loss with DCH3416

anon : I am using a DCH3416 box through HDMI to a Sony Receiver STR-DA5300ES. Intermittently, I loose picture and sound as the Receiver resets after loss of signal. This loss is similar to the loss I note when changing layers during playback of a dual layer DVD.

This occurs during liver cable signal and also when playing back the DVR. When it occurs with DVR playback and I "rewind" and play the same section again, the loss does NOT recur. Therefore, it is not merely a recording of a cable signal loss that occurred during recording.

Any thoughts on this? Is the box defective?
