| [AZ] Connection Drops - Again.
It seems my month or 2 of somewhat reliable connection time has run out again. Looking at my upstream power, I'm thinking that would be the problem this time.
Who wants my MAC this time, or is it still on your note pad on your desk from last time?

| reply to AntiSnipe Alright. Thanks a bunch.
That upstream power is really low is it not? Should be near 40? Just seeing if I am on the right track so far.
What is happening is my connection just goes completely dead every few minutes and stays that way until I reboot the modem. Web pages or cox email time out immediately as if my network cable was unplugged, but the lights on the modem remain on like normal. |

| reply to AntiSnipe I'm over in Tempe, and I'm experiencing similar issues. We were great for the last month or two, and just in the last week I've started getting dropped every morning. I was thinking it might be on my end, but perhaps it isn't after seeing this. My signals are good though. |

| reply to AntiSnipe Things here are screwed up, too. Last time, the folks on here helped and sent a guy out who was excellent. Things seem to have changed. Now, they just tell me I have T3 issues (????) and to call in. Call in? What a freaking total waste of time. Frontline people are so dead brained. Reboot the modem. Take it off the router. Reboot the computer. If we come out, you might be charged xxx dollars.
They need to fox things on THEIR end. Nothing has changed on my end-NOTHING.
This bites.
How about some REAL help, folks? Please. I am considering Qwest. |

join:2001-02-20 Tucson, AZ clubs: | A t3 error is a problem between your modem and The CMTS.
Could be the modem, house or plant, You need a tech out to investigate.
You could have a splitter or piece of cable going bad now that it is getting warm again..... |

| reply to AntiSnipe SMCinAZ,
Could you PM me your cable modem's HFC MAC address and I'll look into this for you?
T3's occur after the modem is online and gets it's first chance to talk to the CMTS and is trying to negotiate it's power level. It sends a communication to the CMTS and starts a T3 timer. If the modem hasn't received a response within 200ms the modem assumes the CMTS could not "hear" it so it boosts it's power level and tries to transmit again. It takes a number of these to occur before the modem will reset itself. These can normally be an indicator modem issues, wiring issues, or cable plant issues that would require a technician.
Thanks,
