| [CATV] clock
How do you fix the clock on the digital cable box? It's a minute off thus screwing up my recordings.

| reply to robertfl I agree with the others. The cable box is correct ... time wise. It is the TV station that is off thus messing with things.
When I used to do VCR recordings I would always set my VCR to start 5 min before the program and end 5 min after. I wish my DVR box had that feature. I hate it trying to start exactly when the show starts. What if the station is off by a minute or 30 seconds?
Would be nice to have an option for it to start "on time" or 5 min before and after. |

| reply to CoxJimR calling support is on my list of thing to do. the clock is almost a minute off from my WWVB clock. I don't know if they would be twiddling their thumbs if I called in and said "your clock is a minute off"
I need to report on the channel 5 audio problem (for the 4th time), too)

| reply to robertfl Robert what are you trying to record? If its NBC then they purposely extend or shorten episodes to "fit more in". I have seen this happen more often then not and you should always have some padding.
Have you tried unplugging the box for about 5 minutes then plugging it back in? If the time is still off then it is probably on Coxs side, but without knowing what you are trying to record as it could be the actual channel that is throwing the recording off.
I know my DVR clocks always seem to be accurate for recordings its the channels that throw the recordings off most of the time. |

| reply to robertfl Try to reset the box. Press and continue to hold the power button until the display reads all eights (88888), shuts off and lastly displays the correct time. This may take a few minutes.
When the correct time displays: Power on DVR receiver Power on TV The reboot is complete. |

| reply to robertfl You can't have the box automatically pad 2 minutes on the beginning and end if the tuner isn't needed immediately? -- Make your Sipura/PAP2 speak. »www.voipurize.com SouthWest Louisiana PC Users Group »www.swlapcug.com |

I'm used to my BeyondTV app with dual tuners. It automatically pads the shows that are set to record with 2 minutes in the front and 2 minutes on the back side. Let's see if I can break it down by automatic.
Show A comes on NBC-HD from 7pm-8pm. That's all that is being recorded that night. So it records from 6:58 to 8:02 automatically. It records it then later that night marks the commercials for easy viewing later.
Show A comes on NBC-HD from 7pm-8pm on Tuesday. Show B comes on FOX-HD at 8pm-9pm. Show C comes on CBS-HD at 8pm-9pm. Show A will record from 6:58 to 8pm only because it couldn't hang out until 8:02 since the two tuners were scheduled for use at 8pm. If only one tuner was scheduled for use at 8pm it would have stayed around until 8:02pm. -- Make your Sipura/PAP2 speak. »www.voipurize.com SouthWest Louisiana PC Users Group »www.swlapcug.com |
