| [XP Home] XP SP2 delay in opening
One machine I have is running XP home premium SP2.
When I click "My Computer" from the start menu the window opens but the "flashlight" appears and takes quite some time to reveal the contents.
This just started happening. Any ideas why?
Thank you!!

It takes about 45 seconds to aminute for all the drives to be found in my computer folder.

If it just happemed, system restore will the best bet. If you need to nail down the cause, that is a different story. -- I used to be indecisive, now I am not sure. |

Thanks for all the replies!!!!

| It wasn't scanning. The only slowness that I noticed the most was whenever I would open "My Computer" and also when I would open windows explorer and try and open anything in thr tree.
Now that Nortons is removed "everything" opens instantly.

Or that you had "1 and a 1/2" -- you removed only parts of Norton and replaced it with something new? |
