| Any News On More HD?
Its almost June and no new signs of any new HD channels yet. Does anyone have any inside information they can share with us? WOW is still lagging behind all other providers in the HD department. |

| said by DJ Matt : WOW is still lagging behind all other providers in the HD department. They are? They have as many if not more than Comcast and have pretty close to the same amount as AT&T. Dish and DTV have more, but they've had more for over a year now. |

| reply to DJ Matt Comcast and WOW were pretty much toe to toe with HD channels in the beginning of the year, but Comcast does have quite a few more HD channels than WOW. I am not sure on the exact total but they must have 5-6 more than us. Also, AT&T has about 10 more HD channels than WOW. The bad thing about AT&T though is that they do not have CSN in HD or 2 HD streams at once. At least right now they don't. AT&T has these HD channels that WOW doesn't have... Big Ten Network CNN ESPN2 Lifetime Movie Network MHD Science Channel TBS History Channel Universal Versus and The Gold Channel
..and AT&T has about 31 HD channels (not including Premium HD channels). |

| reply to DJ Matt WOW in my area has Big Ten HD. They have TLC, Nat. Geo. in HD, but who cares. I would like to see some of the ones mentioned earlier. ESPN2, TBS, plus GOLF and VS. Im also in a TWC area and am debating on switching. They are adding more channels than WOW. |

I say who cares to the sports channels you listed. I'd much rather have The Histoty Channel HD, or Discovery Science HD, Universal would be nice for the extra Olympics coverage though. |

| A lot of peoples opinions are going to be in favor for sports HD channels. |
|
imrf Premium join:2002-06-06 Utica, MI | I doubt that. I tend to believe that there are more people in the US that don't care about sports than do. Or at least ones that need 50 different sports channels. |

| reply to DJ Matt imrf, the same can be said about science and history.
But hey like you said, "It's all a matter of opinion." |

| reply to Jwobot I'll take history and science over sports any day. As a matter of fact, I loathe the idea of paying for sports channels. -- 'void planets roll regardless of desolation' |

| I could link you a bunch of articles about what drives HDTV sales I guess... but you can do a google search and find a lot of information yourself.
Needless to say, sports and video games are 2 of the main drivers of HDTV sales, not nature shows. |

| Sports only drive tv sales when big events are playing. The rest of the year, sports don't do crap for HDTV sales. And as of recent months HDTV sales have dropped.
I can guarantee you the sharp rise in tv sales have nothing to do with sports. What has driven HDTV sales is the fact that less and less SDTVs are being produced. People have little to no choice in the 26"+ range anymore. |

| reply to DJ Matt IMRF is 100% correct. People are going to watch what they wanna watch on T.V.. But when you only give people a limited choice of selection, they are more or less forced to buy what they are being guided to. Coercion is a powerful marketing tool lol.
As to WOW! needing to add more HD channels, get with the broadcaster of the channel that you want in HD and tell them to provide it, then leave a customer feedback requesting the channel in WOW's line-up.
Those companies that have "60+" HD channels up-convert more than 70% of them. So yes, its 'Hight Definition' if you are watching new or live programming, but for the most part its remastered or up-converted from SD to HD. |

| I have requested HD channels for a long time. I request channels every 2-3 weeks and yes, a lot of networks upconvert. I think at the end of this year and going into 2009 that there will definitely be more high definition on those channels that currently upconvert a lot of their programming. |
