If I happened to turn it off in the middle of an automatic upgrade it would be a doorstop.  By doing it manually I can make sure that doesn't happen.]]></description>

However, over night, the 327w updated itself to 4.4.3. I tried to downgrade it again but after about 24 hours it will automatically update to the latest firmware. What can I do to prevent Verizon from forcing my 327w to take the firmware update? It's really annoying.]]></description>

It looked like the 327w had been updated because the background in the modem settings was red and black.  <br>Mine would reset then work for a minute or so then reset again, in a continous loop.  I called Verizon and they said I needed a new modem.  I did a little investigating and saw other people were having the same problem.  I ended up downgrading the firmware to 4.3.2.3 and everything is working normally!!!]]></description>

After they finally convinced me to order a new DSL modem, I kept messing with the old modem.<br><br>I noticed that the modem interface web page looked different. Sure enough, the firmware was newer than when I looked last. *I* didn't do any upgrades. After poking around I found a link in these forums to Verizon's site for the older firmware.<br><br>Lo and behold, running the old firmware (4.3.2.4) it works fine now.<br><br>Was this just another way for Verizon to get another $70 out of all its customers with old hardware?<br><br>That's what I'd like to find out. If you've had a similar experience recently, please leave a post.]]></description>
