Ram question

I have a set of 2 gig sticks (4gigs) of corsair DDR2-800 ram.
I have another set of Geil 1 gig(2gigs) DDR2-800

Will there be any benefit to running all 4 sticks or will losing Dual channel mean less performance.

Re: Ram question

Seeing as how you won't see any benefit above 4GB anyways - Yes.

I may have this wrong but I thought as long as the ram was matched pairs and in the correct slots you'd have have dual channel regardless of their size difference

Yes, all of the boards I've looked at in the last 4 years would still give you dual channel if each pair of memory banks were properly matched (even if the quantity of memory between the two pairs of banks were not the same).

On the other hand I've seen motherboards not work as they should when all memory banks are filled to their stated capacities.
