 New mystery box

This box was just installed at an AT&T (SBC/SNET) pad down the road, and I'm trying to figure out what it's for. There is already a DSL RT there, so I doubt it's for that. U-Verse VRADs are being installed like crazy two towns away, but this doesn't look like any I've seen up to now.

Any ideas what it might be for? Thanks.

Ken

It's a VRAD for Uverse.

I know this is old, and you already got your accepted answer, but here's a little more on it:

It's an Alcatel-Lucent ALP-248. It most-likely has a Tyco CPS6000 or Valere Compact power system in the top, and will hold up to two Alcatel 7330 xDSL shelves. Depending on configuration it'll do UP TO 384 xDSL circuits. Most often it'll be 192 to standard ADSL relief and 192 to VDSL.

In the name ALP-248 I forget entirely what it stands for, but this stands out:

ALP - Alcatel Low Profile
2 - How many xDSL shelves will fit
48 - Either voltage it runs on or how tall it is (forget)

Thanks,
