Slow lately, and slow test from ftp1.optonline.com

Been testing rather slow lately in 11229 area.

ftp1.optonline.com is only 8 hops and 20ish ping, but only getting 600 to 700 K /sec. This at 1:30 am.

No boost, but should be almost twice that fast at least.

Speedtest avg 10000 kbps / 1800 kbps.

Is this just system overload on OOL or what?

It's been slow for me for months. I havent seen it go above 2.5MB/sec in at least 6 months. Other people have no problems. Very strange.

FWIW, I get ~2.0 mb/s using IE to transfer the test64 file, but I see 3.385 mb/s transferring the same file with SecureFx.

You're not alone. The OOL FTP for me has not been the same since 2006. It starts out at 2.70MB and then decreases steadily to about 900kpbs.

This is at all hours of the day too.

The ftp test might be a bit better tonight, and an old version of CuteFTP may be under reporting the speed.

Actual dl speed about 1.1 meg/sec. Not great, not horrible.

But here at 11pm, Sat, still getting mediocre speedtest results

I've seen it as high as 15000 , but rarely.

I should be more careful .

Had something DLing in the background. This is the result on a clean system

I imagine thats about the best to be expected on a non boost install. Correct?

Correct- those are excellent speeds for standard (non-BOOST) service.
