 [Speed] Detroit Area

Anyone in the Detroit area or outlying areas seeing a problem running any kind of speed test..I get no problems with the download portion of it, but when it comes to testing upload speeds, it just sits there and nothing ever happens. Ping levels are through the roof.

Just want to see if its me or everyone.
Just ran a test here, and this is all I could muster..

Well it appears to be something with my system, I have tried another connection with another provider and its the same thing Upload is just not working and ping levels are still through the roof.

This is all since I put vista back on my machine. Anyone have any ideas? The driver for my built in wirless card is up todate..

Another update.
I tried it wired, and its the same result. Comcrap tells me no issues are reported, yet I am having them.

Can a firewall cause this?

You have tried another provider? Thats good, not many people can have the ability to do that. Were they both Cable? If your upload is still terrible with another service provider, I think that rules out a specific ISP as an issue. Since it's unlikely TWO ISP's would be affected the same way. Also, if Comcast said they don't see any issues on their side, its likely it might be at your side-- meaning at your house, neighborhood, or the wiring at your home.

Have you tried another modem? Do you have a router that is connected? Remove the router, and run your computer(alone) straight to your modem-- then do a speed test. If you are still getting the same issue, try plugging your modem into another computer(if possible). Doing it like this will allow you to narrow it down to where the problem is. Whether it's with your computer, router, modem, service provider, etc.

If the issue is still there, I would narrow this issue down to either the wiring in your house/outside, or your computer/Vista.

Call 1-800-Comcast, after you try all of this, to get a technician to come out and check the wiring outside the house(might not be free).

I hope I've helped, good luck!

EDIT: If you think this issue might have been caused by your Vista installation, try back-tracking to a previous time when it was working correctly. If you can't, try reinstalling Vista. Do this after you have narrowed the issue to which components might be affecting it. And YES, a firewall can cause speed/transfer issues.

I'm not having any problems as you can see....

I don't know what test you use...but I've never got good results from most tests from Jersey...

Since you have WOW also why not try this one from them
