[Servers] TS Gateway server name for RDC

Hi! I'm trying to establish a remote desktop connection. I have a desktop computer, which I want to use as a terminal and a laptop from which I want to connect to the terminal. When those computers are in the same LAN or wireless LAN the RDC works by simply inputing the computer name in the RDC client software. However I want to be able to connect from my laptop to my desktop when I'm connected to the internet somewhere else. For this I need to configure a TS Gateway server. My question is, what my TS Gateway server name is and how do I find it. I would also like to know if there are any other settings that need to be set in order to achieve my goals?

Thank you

Giorgio

One more thing I forgot. I am running XP on the terminal and Vista on laptop.

TS Gateway runs on a Windows 2000/2003/2008 Terminal server. What you need to do is forward port 3389 (or whatever port you are using on the XP machine) on your router to the XP box.

Ok so I will install Windows server 2008 on my terminal machine (the one currently running on xp). But what is/where do I get the TS Gateway server name I need to specify on my host laptop computer?

You need to know your public IP address and you'll have to forward port 3389 in your router to the internal IP address of that machine.

No need to install server just to do that and no reason to install TS Gateway. You use only TS Gateway running on Windows server if you have multiple PC's in your network you need to remote into from outside.
