| FIOS TV with an ethernet install
I tried to look for this answer but didn't find it.
I currently have comcast cable, and am tied into the contract for a few more months. However, I do want FIOS internet right now. If I subscribe and get an ethernet install, how would I go about adding FIOS TV functionality in a few months? Would I have to call to get my installation switched to coax? And would that cost me extra?
I'm assuming that FIOS internet via coax would interfere with the comcast signal so the ethernet install is necessary.
Thank you. |

| reply to jamess The VZ standard install is coax from the ONT to the Actiontec router. In your situation, I would expect the tech to simply run a new coax from the ONT to the router. No issues with interfering with Comcast.
When you add FIOS-TV all that would be needed is to disconnect Comcast from your splitter, move the coax feed coming from the ONT to the splitter, and run a new coax from the splitter to the Actiontec.
An internet only coax install can coexist on the same coax with Comcast since the frequency bands for the MOCA LAN & WAN are above the frequencies used for video by both Comcast and VZ.
This post shows:
•A standard coax install (with TV) •Cat5 internet only install •cat5 internet with FIOS-TV
If you are considering using your own router, then by all means, you need to request the cat5 internet install. |

@verizon.net | reply to jamess You can get the standard coax install and have tv installed later. If there's a separate wire to the cable modem it may be as simple as switching your cable modem to a new actiontec, and having the other end plugged into the ont. |

@bu.edu | reply to jamess I have a second TV connected to the comcast signal without a box, getting just the analog signal. Would the FIOS install affect this? |
