said by CUBS_FAN :said by ztmike :Hopefully I'll get the new speed this afternoon..seems like CC ran into trouble with the upgrade for my area.. Any updates? Comcast says I got the increase..but when I load up utorrent my upload speed is all over the place from 0 to whatever it feels like..it doesn't seem stable at all, any of you guys know where I can test my upload speed at, that goes after PB?
I was going ask a buddy of mine to see if I can send him a movie file or something so I can check my upload speed..but nobody's on msn.. -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

Well..it seems like I got the 1meg upload speed FINALLY, about 20mins ago, I kept loosing connection..but now it seems like the update went threw..currently getting this on a private tracker.
Are these about the upload speeds you get on a 1meg connection?
The comcast rep I talked to also said I should have a tech rolled out for signal issues or something..I got disconnected though somehow with the rep but the truck roll out date is set for this monday 10am-1pm..that brings me to this question: How are the below stats for my cable modem?
Downstream Freq/Power: 711.000 MHz -4 dBmV Signal to Noise Ratio: 35 dB Modulation: QAM256 Upstream Freq/Power: 29.600 MHz 50 dBmV Channel Type: Mixed (TDMA and ATDMA) Symbol Rate: 2560 kSym/sec Modulation: QAM16 -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

»Comcast is using Sandvine to manage P2P Connections
All the info you'll need is in there.
Basically, you need to use an App such as Wireshark, and you are looking for forged TCP RST packets.

Here are some links to relevant info, the first link demonstrates another method. It was authored by funchords:
»How to test how many connections are being reset by RST pack
»[Speed] There are good resets and there are bad resets...
»Comcast is using Sandvine to manage P2P Connections
You may decide that none of this is worth your time... Y.M.M.V. |

| hm, well i turned on encryption on utorrent..that seemed to help..i'm currently not downloading just uploading (seeding) but my upload speeds seem to hovering around 60-110 kb/sec.
Seems like it has a mind of its own..I'll check into those threads you posted later..Thanks for helping out. -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

| I found this test from DSLR, I was going to post it in the famous Sandvine thread, but couldn't find it..
»broadband.mpi-sws.mpg.de/transpa···test.php
Scroll to bottom and click full test, *note* don't use your connection for other stuff while testing.
I just tried testing though, and got a server busy error, I'll post the results when I'm able to run the test.
Edit: Its a test to see if your ISP blocks/delays bittorrent. -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdYueIC1pjM |

| I, personally, question the efficacy of that test.
It only tests on 2 ports, and I can't see what is going on behind the scenes so I'm basically forced to blindly trust it..
I.M.O., there is nothing to compare with seeing actual rogue RST packets via a packet dump, but that's just me.
It may indeed be an effective test. Y.M.M.V. |

You shouldn't rely on bit torrent to test your upload because it depends on other people downloading from you and what their connection speed is. Go here: »www.sendspace.com/ and upload a large file and see what speeds you get -- I wish qwest would die! I want FIOS! |

Trace complete.
The last rDNS info I see in my trace that I am familiar with is Boston.
People located in the Northeast will likely get the best results from that destination.
[Edit]
My hop #17 (YYZ) could be Toronto, Canada which would still favor the North and East.
