Yes. It's part of the agreement between A/V companies and malware writers. Kind of like 'happy hour'.

LOL malware makers do not care about the law.

What law? The law of 'no weekend updates'?

Malware writers are on the summer schedule, now that Daylight Savings Time has started - no malware writing over the weekends.

No the law or agreement of not making malware on weekends.
You've got that backwards.
The law states that A/V companies cannot update on weekends, thereby giving malware writers a fair chance, whilst also propagating, promoting, and proliferating the symbiotic relationship between the two factions.

I think it may be against the law to speak of this, however.

Some companies simply have no respect for the law.

Norton has tons of work to do before you can call it Good Anti-Virus.

They're always working, but I think they don't QA the defs until the weekday, or if there's a breakout of some nasty virus.

At Symantec they work until 5pm, then work a half hour with the team in Japan (I think), then they take over there to work their shift, then do the same for the next location, etc.

With the latest Norton, they send out multiple daily updates now. With AVG, there are weekend updates.

Perhaps you are using the wrong A/V program?
