Re: 7.8Mbits Lucky you

I use my own modem, the D-Link DCM-202.

Check so see that you do not have the older modem.....The older modem will not give you the good speeds, even during the upgrade.

I'm in West Hollywood as well in the 90046 zipcode and I also pay for the "Turbo" 10/1 line. I complained and got a discount because I wasn't getting the advertised speed.

Just like you I was also told it's only a matter of time before we finally get the 10/1 line.

What I don't understand it how at one point I actually was getting 10/1 for about 2 months and then all of a sudden went back down. It looks like they are testing it out so we should see the speed bump very soon.

I guess I am lucky compared to you......I am not getting the speed I am supposed to with the "Turbo" package, but your speed is terrible. I would insist upon a technician to come out and check your whole setup to get you much better speed.....Maybe your modem is bad? Do you have a network? If so, maybe there's a problem with your router setup. I'm sure there is a major problem and it can be fixed. Good luck!

I did the exact same thing for all the same reasons!

the only difference is that you get 7.8Mbits during peak hours and I get somewhere in the 500Kbits to 980Kbits range. during peak hours and this has been going on since APR 17 of 08 and still not fixed just runarounds and more call to the helpdesk and level 3 more times than I can count
You’re lucky you get 7.8Mbits after all it says at the bottom of Time warmers page for Roadrunner.

**Up to 8.0 Mbps is based on the speed from the local facility to your cable modem. Actual throughput speeds may vary.
