[Misc] Laptop or build photo box?

If your shooting at a event which would be better having a laptop or a small MircoATX system with a 20" so monitor?

I figure while I have the money now I should upgrade a bunch of things which includes a 2nd camera body and FINALLY getting my studio products which includes the lights and backgrounds and a Dye sub printer.

However I'm a little stuck on the computer issue... I would likey place the order sometime this coming week.

Speaking of the order most will be coming from B&H anyone know how B&H ships Muslin backdrops? I see a lot of B&H stuff at work but I don't think I ever seen a backdrop packed.

Never have, and probaly never will, need to do this, but why not the best of both worlds? A laptop with an external monitor.

Laptop hands down. No wires to fiddle with.

I recommend the Canon dyesub. I've used HiTouch products before, and the Canon ES1 is a great machine. Don't get the newer one, as it doesn't have a built in USB cable.

good point but then I would need to buy a second monitor since the one I have now is starting to get odd lines running down the monitor after about a year.

however I had planned to maybe get a 250gb drive for the labtop or keep the 60gb and get a 320gb external.

You're talking more cables, stuff to lug around with a external drive.

Just drop a 320gb HDD in the laptop. You can get one at Newegg for $140.

Also why the Canon Dye sub over the HiTi? I ask because the model I'm looking at is the 731PS which can do 4x6,5x7 and 6x8.

And what do you mean by built in USB cable with the ES2 model?
