Short Term
A cold front will push into the Northwest on Sunday and into the northern Rockies on Monday. The system will cause light precipitation across the Northwest and northern Rockies. Heavy snow will be possible in the higher elevations of the Rockies by Monday. High pressure will build in behind the system cause windy conditions. A Low pressure in the Plains will continue to deepen tonight as it tracks into the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys, The system will continue to intensify as it tracks into the Ohio Valley and the Appalachians Sunday night and Monday. The system will send warm, moist air northward. The system will track into the lower mid-Atlantic. As this occurs, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall is expected tonight and Sunday in the path of the system. The heaviest of the rain will shift into the mid-Atlantic Sunday night and into Monday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely along the trailing cold front across the central gulf coast into the Tennessee Valley tonight and across the Southeast on Sunday. High pressure will build in behind the system.
Long Term
A ridge over the West will keep conditions fair and dry. The region east of the Rockies is expected to remain unsettled during this period. A series of systems will lift northeast from the southern Plains into the lakes. The heaviest rainfall is expected across the lower Mississippi Valley into the Tennessee Valley.
