Yeah I defeated the throttling also with the help of the WRT54G firmware modified by Guspaz & DSL_Ricer.

Its back to the way it used to be!

Yeah Usenet is great and I have an account, but you can't find everything on usenet. The last week i had to painfully download some rare stuff on throttled torrents... took several days...

Ever try emule? Yes its painfully long but it has some uber rare files, especially kick-ass remux vids. That is, if youre into HD material.

Usenet of course goes much faster, but Ive suspected Bell of throttling that as well, and if they don't now, they certainly will if they escape the coming injunction set before them.

I usually go to eMule last. But yeah, you can find even the ultra obscure on eMule.

Just so long as you don't need it today, or sometimes this week

i avoid emule like the plague because not only is it the slowest source in the world its also the MOST likely to come with a Bogus file that has a virus.. its like sifting thru used needles when u go to emule to find something..

I remember when I downloaded sTarCraft on emule and turned out to be Norton 2001 WITH a virus

Hehehehehe

Yeah I think the same with Lamewire err I meant Limewire.

The trick is I already know the file characteristics of what I might be getting.

Thus, if I know the file is 150 megs, I am sure not going to get the file claiming to be the file, if it's 50 megs or 200 megs etc.
I also know the particulars like, if it doesn't use a serial, then the bogus serial key generator won't interest me logically.

I usually only end up getting songs that barely have any visibility anywhere else though.
But getting a tune with only 1 source and being 12937 in line is the same as no file

I've likely gotten more buggy crap on the newsgroup than via a torrent or other means though. The trick is to use a good antivirus that will tell ya "hey boss, that file has crap in it eh". Might be a false positive, but I'd rather just get a fresh file than pretend I know more than my anti virus does.

If you're not going to share your method then don't boast about your success! I'm still getting less than one tenth of my normal download speed during peak hours.

Instead of it being posted for *all* to see, maybe you could pm morisato.

Already PM'd twice and no response! Makes you wonder if he really does have a solution or is just blowing smoke.

I know about that but most don't know how to do it so....

Getting people to update with an auto installer is a bitch so if they had to do something by hand..well jesus the world stopped moving.

Unfortunately MLPPP isn't an option for the majority of DSL customers just to defeat the throttling.
