Help! Cant change a .txt file into a .reg file.

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
@="@SYS:DoesNotExist"

This is typed and saved in notepad, with of coursethe etension .txt
To make it into a registry entry, i rename it to .reg
But, for some reason, it still remains as a text file!?!
It should have asked me to 'merge in to registry' but it dosent.
Please help, im using XP Pro SP3

You are welcome.

I leave it unchecked all of the time so I know what files are exactly what.

Also in notepad, when saving you can select "Save as type" "All Files - *.*" and just name it what you want there.
