Re: Just had the 5th guy to my brothers house. Just an update as of yesterday I was contacted by Cablevision and I was told that in my area the problem with Voom Channels will resolved by August 15, 2008 and I was given a 50.00 credit. If it is not resolved by then, I have to call them again.. At least at this point I am receiving some sort of credit...Best regards...Bob... |

Re: Voom HDs - 'Channel not available' msg last 2 weeks Do you have a name can contact phone # of the person who gave you the $50 credit?
Because this looks like at Cablevision - it depends on who you talk to on whether you receive a credit or the "it's free" line of BS. |

 | reply to Treebeard In Hackensack they did just wire the apartments with FIOS. Although I see that FIOS does not carry VOOM (a shame since the variety of good channels is astounding), without getting $$ credit and only empty promises, I may switch. |

CPA @goldbox.com | reply to Treebeard Cablevision added new HD channels this weekend 8/2 (at least when I noticed)
Nice to have some real channels that don't broadcast no-name shows.
I got a letter back from the FCC - I left it at home - but it says to contact someone in NYS commission, and that they (FCC) does not have jurisdiction over this type of complaint. |

 | reply to Treebeard my 8300 rebooted sometime over Tuesday night. Since then all the voom channels have been working with very fast times before they play (less than 1 sec). The 4200 works sometimes, but when it does work, it takes about 5-20 sec before it displays an image. |

RemyM join:2005-02-14 Stamford, CT | Cablevision found a bug in the set top box software that was contributing to the channel not available messages. New code was pushed out to fix the problem, hence the reboot. Anyone still getting the message has some other problem. |
|
 | They couldn't find a bug if it bit them on the ass. Yeah my boxes rebooted wed and the channels were there & now this afternoon a couple of them were gone again with the message. |
|
 | reply to handydave My 8300HD still worked fine as of this morning. The 4200HD does work most of the time. |

 | reply to Treebeard All of my VOOM channels have all been working for the past day or so without any issues, even at times when they had been consistently giving channel unavailable lately (assume things got worse due lots of students, and others, home for their summer vacations).
For reference, my box is a SA 4200HD.
I got an 'intializing' (new software?) message when I first tuned to a VOOM channel yesterday or Thursday, although I have had that before w/o success.
Fingers crossed that it lasts.
Now I just need to see about getting a discount, as my Triple Play just ended and my last bill is almost 50% higher.
I will look up tips in the other forums. I had called the disconnect number about 6 weeks ago and got a nice CSR who told me to call back when my promotion was about to end (to maximize the benefits by waiting till the last minute). I called back and gave his extension but they said they have a no transfer policy, so they had to send him a note. He didn't call back, which sucks, because he seemed very wiling to give me a discount - I was hoping to speak to him. |

1 edit | Several days later and my (2)4200s and 8300 are still working fine. Hopefully the problem is behind them.
If it continues to work well, hopefully CV will add more channel HiDef channels.
Update 8/13 Very short lived. Couldn't get any channels this morning. |

1 edit | reply to Treebeard GOOD NEWS !! I have been able to watch Flipper on 722 for 2 nights in a row! Looks like they have made some changes to handle the streaming demands of SDV for VOOM. Something definitely has changed for the better. |

 | DolanFan,
I guess it is being implemented on an area by area basis. My VOOM channels have actually been working fine for about 15 straight days now. I have not had a single "channel not available" error that entire time.
Ironically Verizon just sent me a letter outlining a great deal - 6 months at a very low rate then 6 months at a low rate - that I may find hard to pass up, even more so now that my CV Triple Play has expired. The problem is that once the promotional period is up, Verizon's Triple Play (inc. boxes, card and taxes) will be noticeably higher than CV and I also won't be getting Optimum Rewards benefits anymore if I switch to Verizon. |
|
 | Switch for a year and then switch back to CV once the promo is over. I do it all the time. |
|
 | reply to Treebeard I'd also like to point out that it appears that Voom on SDV is now ENCRYPTED. In the initial weeks/months of deployment it was transmitted CLEAR QAM in my area.
I was able to watch the channels on my QAM tv tuner w/o any box.
I can no longer do that. Morris system. |

 | reply to PeterinNJ did you calculate the average cost per month over the entire 12 month period rather than just the latter 6 months?
