| Possible Issues With My Phone Line
Dear Broadband Reports Community,
I was wondering, if issues I had with Bell will have an affect on your service. The issue with Sympatico for us was regardless of the service we were on (we were on their fastest service) the max download speed we received was 30Kb/S. We did not receive any support for the problem, so we switched to Rogers High Speed Internet. For free Rogers sent some electricians over and they discovered that one of the communication lines to our home, (either cable or phone line) was on it's last leg and should have been replaced years ago, and rogers replaced it for free. I was wondering if this would have resolved the problem with Sympatico, and therefore is it certain I would be able to receive around 5 MB/s speeds with your service? We are currently receiving full speed from Rogers however their connection frequently drops out, and we have to unplug then reconnect the modem and router after 30 seconds, which is ridiculous. We are on the verge of switching however but we do not want to switch of course if we will only receive up to 30KB/s.
Regards. |

@rogers.com | To clarify I am asking this question to Acanac. Technical expertise from other users however is highly appreciated. |

| reply to C MacLean AFAIK, BELL and rogers carries their internet service on seperate lines. Its possible rogers fixed only their cable line. Did you check to see how far you are from a BELL central office (CO)? |

| The possibility of you encountering the same issues with Acanac is High since we would use the same copper lines. I don't know if your slow speeds were because of your distance from the CO or just bad wiring within your home. We also have no real way to know until your up and running. If you do encounter the same issues you can always request a full refund. I know this is not the answer you want to here, but unfortunately really can't tell until your up and running.

| reply to C MacLean My CO is in Bluewater ON, and I live in Wasaga Beach ON. An odd coincidence about the value 30 Kb/s is that speed is or was the Lite Speed download speed cap at the time, so we believe possibly that Bell was accidentally giving us Lite Speed service when we were paying them $55/month. I am certain there is nothing wrong with the wiring in our home. It's probably Bell's error or the strength of our phone line is weak. We will attempt to replace the phone line if there are issues with your service. Thank you for your time.
