The issue here is not that he was 80 years old and maybe or maybe not strong or weak, it's the number of mounties No, I think the major issue is that he was armed with a knife. -- My BLOG .. .. | Why do people in today's society side with the criminal and not the people who risk their lives every day to help make our society a safer place?
If TO or Montreal ever has a major strike by their police officers I wonder how many of you will be happy then? |

No, the major issue here is that cops - particularly the RCMP - are getting lazy and not wanting to get their hands dirty because they now have a weapon that they can use to subdue someone, regardless of the fact that it has an exponentially greater chance of killing someone than having one cop grab the person by the head, the other grab the left arm and the third grab the arm with the knife like they have been doing for decades before. -- I swear that I will faithfully and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen. |

And if the taser had not been available, what would your suggestion have been for handling this situation? I doubt shooting him would have been an option. So what else could they have done? The taser was convenient. That's the bottom line. -- Check out the »Primus TalkBroadband VoIP FAQ. |

Simple - they aren't doing their god damn job! Their job is to use the absolute minimum force necessary in situations like this. Tasering an 80 year old man is not the minimum amount of force necessary. It's outright lazyness and bad policing skills.
If I did this kind of brute force bullshit in my industry I would lose clients and lose my job. I have absolutely no sympathy for cops that are brain dead idiots. -- I swear that I will faithfully and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen. |
