For starters:

A) What is the install error?

B) Read here why you should uninstall IE 7 before installing SP 3:

I this really true? I thought there was no need to uninstall anything.

[EDIT] Now I see you'll lose the uninstall option. I should have read your link first! My mistake...

I should have been more clear....it doesn't cause a problem per se when installing SP 3, but it could be an issue down the road if you want, for some reason, to uninstall IE 7.

I didn't mean to imply it was part of the OP's problem.

Thanks, it's always nice to have the uninstall option, just in case... Seems like a good idea to uninstall it first.
