Hello,
I ran a speedtest before I went to bed last night and got the usual 15/1.8.
I just turned on my PC for today and ran a speedtest first thing. 9/1.8.
Nothing of interest in the log files, just a bunch of entries like this:
May 11 17:44:07 2008 System Log LAN DHCP DHCP LAN Connection IP:192.168.1.50, DNS:192.168.1.1,GTW:192.168.1.1,Subnet:255.255.255.0 (Wireless) May 11 17:21:51 2008 System Log LAN DHCP DHCP LAN Connection IP:192.168.1.54, DNS:192.168.1.1,GTW:192.168.1.1,Subnet:255.255.255.0 (Wireless) [repeated 2 times, last time on May 11 17:40:43 2008] May 11 17:14:59 2008 System Log WAN DHCP DHCP WAN connection IP:71.177.123.xxx,DNS:68.238.64.14 68.238.96.14 ,GTW:71.177.123.1,Subnet:255.255.255.0 (WAN Ethernet)
.50 is me, .54 is the Wii.
Only other log item that differs is:
May 11 11:28:31 2008 System Log CWMP Periodic Inform 204 No Content
May 11 11:28:31 2008 System Log CWMP Periodic Inform challenge response with 200 OK from server

Router firmware version is 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7 CWMP entries can be ignored at this time. It is related to port 4567 management by Verizon.
When you are getting 10/1.8 on your PC, is your Wii powered on? What happens when you shut it down? What happens when you turn off UPnP? Are there any QoS rules established that would explain the slower speeds? After you shut down the Wii, does the speed return to normal? If you reboot the router to restore normal speed test and do not turn on the Wii, does the speed test drop, or does it only drop after the Wii has been turned on?
I think when you get less than you expect on a speedtest, something else is using the rest. | | sdsvtdriver

The Wii is rarely on, but it sits in standby periodically checking for messages or whatever Wii's do when not on. I'll turn it off completely (unplugged0 for this test.
What happens when you shut it down? We'll see.
What happens when you turn off UPnP? Will try that after seeing if the speed drops to ~10 with Wii off or not.
Are there any QoS rules established that would explain the slower speeds? No.
After you shut down the Wii, does the speed return to normal? Wii is unplugged. If speed still drops with Wii off, this test probably won't be useful, but will do it for fun.
If you reboot the router to restore normal speed test and do not turn on the Wii, does the speed test drop, or does it only drop after the Wii has been turned on? Will see after initial "Wii off" test results are in.

That would have been my first guess, however so far haven't been able to pinpoint it. I did hear mumblings about the router having issues, primarily with people being on peer to peer networks, however nothing about this specifically. I was wondering if the small NAT table affected XBox live in the same manner.
Of course, I could purchase a new router and relegate the Actiontech to guide duty only, however I don't know what models to use these days. My old WRT54G won't handle the bandwidth, even with the sveasoft firmware.
Thank you again for your time and suggestions. I'll report back what I find, if anything. | | Smith6612 Premium join:2008-02-01 united state

| This site should be helpful for helping you determine a FiOS capable router. Look for the WAN to LAN throughput category. It will rank routers from the fastest throughput to the slowest throughput, including your WRT54G.

On that list, a D-Link Extreme Gaming router is the fastest one there, boasting a bit over 200Mbps of theoretical throughput. A linksys WRT54G boasts around 54Mbps of theoretical throughput and below on WAN throughput. Your Linksys should be OK to handle it, given that you give it a few tweaks at the most. That is, unless you have Version 1.0 which gives a horrible 20Mbps of total throughput. If you have Version 1.0, get yourself a new router | | kgeissler

| I have coax running to my Actiontec, so unless I want to bridge another router, these will not work.
