| What about cut outs
The copyright holders never talk about songs that to them no longer have value. The music industry calls those recordings cut outs. You may have seen a bin in a CD store containing Cd's with holes drilled through or notches cut in their packages. What I am referring to are albums that are no longer available for purchase through normal channels. Whenever a new media is introduced all albums recorded on the previous media will not be re-released on the new media. All tracks recorded on vinyl were not released on CD. One reason many music lovers are downloading music files from file sharing websites, is that they can no longer obtain that favorite song any other way. A component must be added to copyright law that will place songs removed from the record label's catalogs in the public domain until the songs are re-released (made available) by the record labels. |
