Availability in Northridge, CA

My house is near CSUN and I have seen crews working on boxes around here. I know the box near me isn't connected (no electrical meter on it). But is anyone here live or know when it will be?

Its because DWP is dragging ass on running in the power. Most of the VRADS the ducting is ready to go. Its slow cause they fighting it out with the union trying to keep things inhouse rather than contractors helping out.

Hello

@sbcglobal.net
Get rid of the unions and hire anyone willing and able to do the work. If people knew unions were the reason no work is completed they would not tolerate unions. Let willing people work, no matter if they are in unions or not!

Update: For the box near me, it still has no electric meter, but late last week a trench was made to the other side of the street (where there is a power pole), with a pipe/duct going about one-third the way up it, but with no electrical wiring. Who knows how long that will take.

Heres how it works. ATT subcontractor installs VRAD and new pad and the fiber ducting. Next, fiber is pulled in and spliced by ATT techs. Meanwhile we are waiting for DWP to map each VRAD location to tell us where to trench power conduit to. Next, ATT subcontractor digs trench,installs power conduit w/pull box up to pole or vault designated by power co. (with pull string installed ready to go). Next, wait 6 months while power co has a circle jerk about who's gonna do the job. Next, power company decides to install AC power to vrad and puts in meter. Next,(1-3 weeks)ATT engineering office releases VRAD as live and orders are taken. Thats the process, right from the horses mouth.

Since they put the duct work underground across the street from the box to the power pole, they haven't come back. No electrical done at all. I do wish they would fill in the trench that was dug the width of the street. Right now steel plates are covering the trench which I need to drive over each day.

Probably another month to go.
AT&T contractors spent about 1 month gutting the area for phone lines.
Then, they were out here for ~3 weeks putting in the pad/ducting.
Then it sat there for a couple of weeks
Then the meter was put on with wiring for power
Then AT&T spent the next 2 months troubleshooting. They finally got the water out of the lines after that.

This week:

The trench was filled in (my car tires are thankful).

Wiring was pulled through the ducts and a meter is now on the box.

Maybe things will be up sooner than I thought.

Yesterday I checked the Uverse website and my telephone number and address now does show I can order Uverse. I'm just East of CSUN. But until AT&T has rates that I feel are competitive (I have about six televisions connected to cable in my house), I'll stick with Time Warner. AT&T, are you listening?

@rr.com

I actually live directly across the street from CSUN and a few techs came by last week to try to sell me on U-Verse. I decided to give it a try, seeing how the first month is free anyway. I'm getting it installed tomorrow and I'll let ya know how it is.

We've done a few installs on the West end of the CSUN campus (Vincennes and University Drive), so it's up and running slowly but surely.

The meter is up on the VRAD 100 feet from my house and i cant wait for it to be available. We have 4 tv's...... (fingers crossed).
