(That is, is the name a bunch of underscores followed by a colon - but without the quotes?). The colon would be illegal, which might be what's messing things up. What might work in that case is to use deltree or rd with a wildcard mask from a command prompt - something like "deltree ___*" or "rd ______?" (with the proper number of underscores in the case of the latter).<br><br>(rd only works on empty directories. deltree works on non-empty directories and subdirectories, so be careful with it: If your mask is too general, you can delete a lot more than you intended.)<br><br>BJ]]></description>

No effect.<br><br>I tried Unlocker, but, it does not work under Windows 98. I tried version 1.0 and all I got was the "unlocker caused a fault in....."<br><br>Is there any hope that anything short of a reformatting can be used to get rid of my mistake?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1512344"><b>Mainframe</b></A> : In trying to make a folder on my computer more secure, I download a application called "Folder Lock"<br><br>But, something went wrong, and the folder name was changed to ______: and became unopenable.<br><br>Using a file recoverry software I was able to find and copy to a safe place the hidden files. However, the original 400MB folder is still on the hard drive and can't be erased/renamed/moved.<br><br>Evert time I try I get:<br><br>"Cannot delete _______: Cannot find the specified file.<br> Make Sure you specify the correct path and filename."<br><br>Or<br><br>Cannot Delete File System Error (1026)<br><br>I have tried everything that "Folder Lock" has told me to try, but, the folder is still on my computer. <br><br>I have even resorted to something called PTS DiskEditor to view the raw data on the drive. It does not seem to work either.<br><br>I hope that someone here has a solution short of reformatting the drive.<br> ]]></description>
