If your STB or DVR is connected directly to your surround sound receiver, as ours is, when the TV is turned off, the sound remains on untill you turn the receiver off, lower the volume to zero or turn off the box. If your TV has the sleep timer feature and the FIOS remote is coded to control the TV - then you may have a workaround available. If the TV is on, select the "TV" device - then press the "MENU" key. Many TVs will now display their internal menus. You may have to press a different key than "MENU" to get the TV to display it's menu, but it's worth a try.

My wife is used to falling asleep with the tv on. But its annoying when you fall asleep and the tv stays on all night and wakes you up. So even when the cable box shuts off (like you can set with any other provider), the feed shuts off and no sound.
