<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1550933"><b>rockhopjohn</b></A> : So after speaking with the local guy, Chris, from Cable One, I got a call back a few days later inviting me into a conference call between Chris, and the VP of Internet (someone named Cassadelli) for Cable One based out of Phoenix.  We spent about 45 minutes talking about the general shortcomings of Cable Technology for certain types of applications, and how they are constantly trying to deal with the fact that they have to buy a pipe big enough to hand their peak traffic, which leads them to doing whatever they can to limit that peak traffic.<br><br>Cassadelli was unapologetic about the throttling, but he did agree that the information needed to be more visible, so that the average consumer could factor it into their buying experience.  He said that he would pursue making the AUP more visible, so that people would understand that they would be capped for high usage before they purchased the service.  He claimed these changes would be made in a new website re-vamp they have in the works.  So who knows, we will see.<br><br>As for me, I have switched from Cable One over to Qwest, and I am much happier with their service.  I have a 5000/1000 kbps connection (as opposed to 3000/300 kbps with cable one), I haven't experienced any throttling, and I am paying $43 a month as opposed to the $50 I was paying with Cable One.]]></description>

When ever you buy a brand new car you know what you are getting. <br><br>Currently RR dont have a useage cap for our area. But only time will till if it will happen.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1550933"><b>rockhopjohn</b></A> : Well, I spoke with Chris from Cable One today, took about 2 hours for someone to call me after I spoke with the person from the City.  He was very nice and we talked for about 20 minutes regarding the caps, and the need for more transparency in the AUP.  He is planning to pass my concerns up the chain, and agreed that their needed to be more transparency.<br><br>Time will tell if this is just placation.  I have the feeling that this guy is genuinely concerned, but he works at a local office, and I tend to wonder if he has the power to make anything happen.  He may pass things up the chain, but it seems like it is pretty likely they won't go anywhere.<br><br>I am giving them some time to see if things go anywhere.  But I am perfectly happy to work my way up the chain by contacting local state reps.  I have a feeling if someone at the local office starts being contacted by local state reps.   they are likely to push the panic button, and I will have corporates attention.<br><br>Anyway. . .time will tell, keep you posted.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1550933"><b>rockhopjohn</b></A> : This is my first post in these forums, but I have been using them to research the issue of the speed caps that CableOne has implemented.  I was put off by the fact that I was never informed of these caps, and that when I contacted CableOne about it, they just told me that everyone does it and at least we advertise our limits.<br><br>So. . .that being said I decided to file a complaint with the City of Boise (where I live) regarding CableOne's intrusive caps, and specifically the fact that they do a very poor job of making the limit information available to new customers, especially if you don't ask about it.<br><br>I will be interested to see what kind of response I get from CableOne, and I will post any updates as they come in.  I expect that I will be switching to Qwest DSL, but this is CableOne's only opportunity to redeem themselves.]]></description>
