Re: May 27th Net Neutrality Rally - Details...

hey, the 1st page (»www.netneutralityrally.ca/whatis2.asp)
and the 2nd page (»www.netneutralityrally.ca/whatis4.asp)
have the same title ("Confirm you are joining us on Parliament Hill").

Can you ask them to change the title of the 2nd one so it's clear that it's for transportation?

Quick little story I posted internally at TekSavvy to give a description of things as they are to be under the new regime of Internet Control, should we not voice our concerns...

The rally is in the name of Net Neutrality, which encompasses the throttling issue by virtue of a variety of reasons, hence why we are involved as we are. Net Neutrality is a more global issue in that it is about the protection of your online privacy/rights, as well as protecting you against online corporate profiling and choice.

Imagine this scenario: You get up in the morning and turn your computer on, Rogers or Bell greets you with your "favourite" sites then proceeds to suggest sites of interest (those who paid Rogers or Bell first). These sites would of course be preselected against your surfing habits (be-it religious, sexual, commercial). Now image, shortly after getting online, you get a call from a friend telling you to go and check out this joke on line, it's a little racy, but funny, but when you enter the web site address, it's not available... it's been blocked by your ISP as it doesn't fall within the "accepted" list of web sites. Welcome to the new Canadian Internet future!

.....starting to get the picture?

This is one of the various reasons we are heading to Ottawa on May 27th. This issue is about something the larger ISPs are trying to sneak right under everyone's noses... The removal/control of choice and online rights!
